Job Summary

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill programmer/system analyst positions at the junior, intermediate and senior levels. The incumbent will be responsible for analysing requirements and designing the required technical specifications for users and for writing/testing program code in support of new development projects and on-going maintenance support. The functions may also involve the following:

• Identify and analyze technical developments by reviewing/defining user requirements/problems;
• Design and implement technical specification of various programs/sub-systems;
• Write new or modify computer programs from the technical specifications;
• Plan, develop, test and implement solutions for programs and systems;
• Assist the Project Leader with the planning/scheduling and defining activities;
• Conduct information sessions and training seminars in support of the installations and release of new computer systems;
• Provide advice/guidance to junior programmer/analysts.

Education

Undergraduate degree in an IT related field (Computer Science, Engineering or Technology) and two (2) years experience or a College diploma (3 years) in an IT related field (Computer Science, Engineering or Technology) and three (3) years experience.

Experience

Demonstrated experience as a Programmer/Analyst in a systems development environment with programming languages such as Visual Basic, Visual Interdev, Visual Studio, JAVA, C or C++ involving logic development, coding and testing;

Demonstrated experience using SQL Programming Language;

Demonstrated development experience with HTML, XML and Javascript;

Demonstrated experience with the UNIX operating system.

Security Requirements

Candidates must have no criminal record, be one-year drug-free and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. This process involves a security interview, an extensive verifiable background investigation covering the last 10 years, that includes credit and financial verifications, as well as a polygraph examination.

Salary Range

From $62,280 to $75,780 per year. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment Conditions

One (1) year term with a possibility of extension or permanent position.
