Job Summary

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Systems Operations Analyst within the Information Management Branch. The candidate will be responsible for providing a 24/7, 1st tier maintenance of the computing and telecommunication service desk infrastructure for the Service. The areas of responsibilities are as follows:

  • Maintain the CSIS Secure Telecommunication Network (CSTN) to ensure reliable and secure telecommunications across Canada.
  • Coordinate activities during installation and/or repair of computer and telecommunication hardware and software and maintain network security.
  • Monitor, control and verify servers to ensure system integrity.
  • Analyse IM projects, assess their effects on services delivered to the client and write new procedures to support the new capabilities delivered.
  • Analyse performance of the computing and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Review all changes to the computing and telecommunications infrastructure and make recommendations to minimize/simplify impacts and update the appropriate procedures.
  • Analyse and develop recovery plans to restore computer services during power disruption events and perform the appropriate power up/down restoration sequences.

As part of a team in a shift work environment, the candidate must accept working on a rotating or an irregular basis.

Education

Undergraduate degree in an IT related field (Computer Science, Engineering or Technology) and two (2) years experience* or a College diploma (3 years) in an IT related field (Computer Science, Engineering or Technology) and three (3) years experience*.

Experience

Demonstrated experience in management of computing and telecommunication networks including their security.

Desirable Experience:

Completion of a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification or Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).

Who Can Apply

Canadian citizens eligible for a Top Secret security clearance.

Security Requirements

Candidates must have no criminal record, be one-year drug-free and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. This process involves a security interview, an extensive verifiable background investigation covering the last 10 years, that includes credit and financial verifications, as well as a polygraph examination.

Language Requirements

Bilingual (BBB).

Salary Range

From $62,2800 to $75,780 per year. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment Conditions

One year term with the possibility of a permanent position.

Shift work environment - the candidate must accept working on a rotating or an irregular basis.

The successful candidate will be expected to remain in the position for a minimum of two (2) years.
